Commanders!
In the recently launched On the Hunt Battle Path, you had the opportunity to try out for the first time the new mechanics we have prepared for you – First Person Missile Control, which became colloquially known as “FPV missiles” (we will therefore be using this term).
Upon launch we have encountered an issue with the mode – the twitching that takes place in flight for some players. The issue is mostly caused by connection issues causing desynchronization between the camera and the missile controls, which is why the problem is much more noticeable with poorer connections.
We are working on improving the situation (which includes rather complicated net code optimization) and you can see the results on the video below.
However, there are several things to be noted:
- This feature needs lengthy testing and is therefore only going to be available in the second half of January
- The solution isn’t “magical” in the sense that it will not compensate for bad connection, not completely anyway – there will always be some twitching. However, the situation is bound to improve
Another issue that can be seen on the video is a new FPV missile visual filter. The current blue-ish one is not working very well on desert and snow maps, making bright terrain hard to see. We will be switching to a different filter that makes the image less taxing for your eyes.
That’s of course not all. We are working also on further bug fixes and other content that we’ll tell you about in January and February. For now, enjoy the holiday season and, as always:
See you on the battlefield!
